What’s the difference between hydrophilic fumed silica and hydrophobic(treated) fumed silica

There are hydrophilic and hydrophobic fumed silica. the most intuitive difference is that hydrophilic fumed silica can easily disperse in the water and hydrophobic fumed silica can’t disperse in the water .
